UKBCCI has organized a successful meeting with the Honorable Mayor of Sylhet
City Corporation, Mr Ariful Haque Choudhury on Wednesday 11th May at
Montefiore Centre. It was a very productive meeting. UKBCCI put up many
proposals to the Honorable Mayor, such as building Heritage Museum, NRB
Day, recognition of NRB’s contributions. Also discussed about Surma
walkway tourist’s information points, traffic management requirements etc
Condolences for Mr Abul Maal Abdul Muhith
On behalf of UKBCCI, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Former Finance Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith who has passed away today on 30th April at United Hospital in Dhaka. He was 88.
On behalf of UKBCCI, we pray for the salvation of his departed soul and convey sympathy to his family members.
Born in 1934 in Sylhet, Mr. Muhith played many roles in his life. Apart from being a Finance Minister, he was an economist, diplomat, freedom fighter, language movement veteran, writer, and historian.
Condolences for Mr M A Rouf JP
On behalf of UKBCCI, we would like to extend our deepest condolences for
UKBCCI’s Senior Vice President Mr. M A Rouf (JP) who passed away on 24th
March at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi roji’un.
Mr. Rouf was a renowned business person in the UK and in Bangladesh. He was
the Founding Chairman of Britannia Group, Former Senior Vice President
of Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA), Director & Former Chairman of
Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) in Bangladesh.
He was not only a colleague of UKBCCI Directors and members but also a
very close friend of few Directors. He was a lovely gentleman with a
kind heart, he will be missed by everyone in UKBCCI.
May Allah grant him the highest-ranking in Jannah InshaAllah. We send
his family our deepest condolences for the loss & we will keep him in
our duas.

UKBCCI Member Mr Kazi Arif awarded Civic Award 2022 from London Borough of Tower Hamlets
UKBCCI Member Mr Kazi Arif awarded the Civic Award 2022 from London Borough of Tower Hamlets in recognition of benefitting the community through success in business and community involvement. The event was held on 24 February 2022 at St Georges Town Hall, Cable Street, London
UKBCCI London Regional President, Mr Oli Khan MBE was receiving the Award MBE
Investitures were held at Windsor Castle on 8th February, with HRH The Prince of Wales hosting a ceremony, where the UKBCCI London Regional President, Mr Oli Khan MBE was receiving the Award MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire). It was awarded to Mr Khan for making a
positive impact to the hospitality industry and charity in the UK and abroad.
