Condolences on passing of Mr M A Gani
On behalf of UKBCCI, we would like to extend our deepest condolences for UKBCCI’s Director & Former Vice President Mr M A Gani who passed away on 5th June at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi roji’un.
He was not only the UKBCCI’s Director & Former Vice President but also very close to the UKBCCI family. He was a wonderful person with great integrity, he was always there to help whenever we needed him. UKBCCI has lost such a wonderful colleague. He will be sorely missed by everyone in the UKBCCI.
M A Gani was born in 1941 in a village called Akakhajana in the Beani Bazar Upozila of Sylhet. He was raised in an educated but conservative family who taught him to be honest, respectful, and kind to others. He completed his primary education in his village school, followed by his higher education at the Sylhet Government High School. Later he completed his bachelor’s degree from the M. C. College in Sylhet.
In 1962 he migrated to the United Kingdom where he initially worked in various restaurants before starting his own restaurant business in 1970.
In 1981 he returned to Bangladesh with the desire to start a business that would help create employment in the country. With the help of a good friend, he set up a garments factory in Dhaka which employed 500 people. Through perseverance, dedication, and hard work the business has grown and is now an exemplary garments factory employing nearly 9000 members of staff.
He was actively involved in many charitable activities, most notably as Trustee and Vice Chairman of the Beani Bazar Cancer Hospital. He was also a strong believer in the value of education for young people, and have made notable donations to educational institutions such as the Beani Bazar Women’s College, Kurar Bazar College, and the Madrasa in his village.
Beyond these, he holds interests in several other ventures in Bangladesh. However, he remains closely tied to his original trade of the restaurant business in the United Kingdom.
May Allah grant him the highest-ranking in Jannahtul Firdaus InshaAllah. We send his entire family our deepest condolences for the loss & we will keep him in our duas. May Allah bless all the family members with courage, strength and patience at this difficult time.
