On Sunday 6th October the UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce & Industry (UKBCCI), paid tribute to the invaluable impact of the Bangladeshi community on the British Economy. Ten UK residents, from a diverse range of industries, were honoured for their personal contributions and achievement, at the annual UKBCCI Awards, which took place in central London.

UKBCCI Business Awards Evening October 2017
The UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce & Industry (UKBCCI) announces the winners at its Business & Entrepreneur Excellence Awards 2017 and Gala Dinner.
The UKBCCI held its second Business & Entrepreneur Excellence Awards 2017 and Gala Dinner at the London Hilton Park Lane, on Sunday 15th October. Hosted by Jennie Bond, the English journalist and television presenter who had worked for fourteen years as the BBC’s royal correspondent, the UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce and Industry (UKBCCI) announced its full list of winners at the prestigious ceremony.
In the presence of over 800 guests, made up of dignitaries, VIPs, MPs and prominent members of the business community, the UKBCCI handed out the awards to a well-deserving list of nominees covering the spectrum of entrepreneurialship. Amongst those attending the awards event were Chief Guest George Freeman MP, Currently Chair of the Prime Ministers Policy Board and Chair of the Conservative Policy Forum, His Excellency Mohammed Nazmul Quaunine, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom, Rushanara Ali MP – the most powerful Muslim women in Britain, the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow since 2010, Richard Herrington MP, Julian Knight MP, Amjad Bashir MEP, Paul Scully MP, Rt. Hon Stephen Timms MP, Anne Main MP, Andrew Stephenson MP, Ruzina Hasan, Director, Department of International Trade, John Biggs, Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets Council and Gary Newbon, Sky Sports Correspondent.
Representing the UKBCCI were its Chairman Iqbal Ahmed OBE, President Bajloor Rashid MBE, various UKBCCI directors as well as members.

The judging panel for the awards was made up of highly eminent names including Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE, DL, Dr Nazia Khanum OBE DL and Dr Zoe Mandich.

Nazmul Quaunine, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Chief Guest, The Rt Hon David Gauke MP for South West Hertfordshire and Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Richard Harrington MP and Under Secretary of State at the Department for Work and Pensions, Rushanara Ali MP, Dr Rupa Huq MP, Paul Scully MP, Rt Hon Mark Field MP, Rt Hon. the Lord Bates, Minister of State (Department for International Development) and various other distinguished MPs.
Also in attendance were Baroness Pola Uddin of Bethnal Green, John Biggs, Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Pasha Khandaker, President of the Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA), Andy Street, Managing Director of John Lewis and Mayoral Candidate West Midlands along with Sandra Dexter, National Vice Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), and many others.
