Iqbal Ahmed OBE Awarded Business Person of the Year Award at the Asian Achievers Awards 2015
Iqbal Ahmed OBE, Chairman of UKBCCI and proprietor of companies such as Seamark and Ibco was awarded the prestigious Business Person of the Year award by the Asian Achievers Awards, at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, in Park Lane.
”When my name was called out, I couldn’t believe it. It was such a surprise, but it felt great. There were so many other heavyweight nominees that I know personally and to be chosen amongst them for the award was a tremendous honour. It’s also very encouraging to be given such an accolade and I see it as winning not just for myself but also on behalf of everyone I work with all and all my family. I’ve received so many messages of congratulations that I feel overwhelmed. Its hugely rewarding and very heartening that nowadays members of our communities can be recognised in such an excellent way.”
Chair of the judging panel was Sir Vince Cable who was UK’s former Secretary of State for Business. Other judges included the former Chairman of the BBC and current Chairman of the Football Association Greg Dyke, Founder of fashion brand Ultimo Baroness Michelle Mone OBE and Chairman of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother’s 100th Anniversary celebrations in 2000 Major General Sir Evelyn John Webb-Carter.

Iqbal Ahmed OBE is an international businessman of Bangladeshi ancestry who owns a number of prestigious businesses in various sectors including import, export, leisure, real estate along with being a Chairman of NRB Bank in Bangladesh. He also holds a number of posts. A noted philanthropist in both the UK and Bangladesh, he is also Chairman of Britain’s leading British Bangladeshi business organisation the UK Bangladesh Catalysts of Commerce and Industry (UKBCCI).
